ART@47 is our dedicated art space. It serves as the Festival Office during July and August, then throughout the year is available for art exhibitions, meetings and other purposes.
Several artists and groups have used the space over the years and the Festival has held its own exhibitions. Down below we have posters of some of these exhibitions, beginning with our inaugural exhibition in 2012 which drew on work by artists resident in Pittenweem.
Monday October 14th to Saturday 26th 2019
11.00-4.00 closed Sundays
Either side of midnight: a photographic journey is an exhibition which traces the authentic and sometimes unconventional stages of Scott’s work as he developed his own very distinctive perspective on life and work; land and sea, in and about his home: the East Neuk of Fife.
Over a period of nearly 20 years, a body of work emerged which was increasingly anchored to a theme of hand-made imagery: the historic craft of photographic image-making where light and shade are interpreted through careful cajoling of chemistry, glass, metals, paper, time.
Scott’s circle of family and friends all feel the regret that such a comprehensive exhibition was never staged in his lifetime but, in working together to stage this tribute, we hope to shed a new light on the work - and the quiet determination with which the artist went about it - and to give at least a part of Scott’s unique vision a wider audience and the attention which it fully deserves.
