A celebration of the visual arts taking place in galleries homes studios and other venues throughout Pittenweem
During my time as a student at the Edinburgh College of Art in the seventies I spent many hours drawing from casts of Greek and Roman sculptures. The simplicity of form and line that I learned then stays with me today enabling me to construct the highly populated canvases of everyday life, including the ceilidh scenes, that I am known for today.
Another major influence on my paintings is the time I spent in the eighties producing silk screen prints. Printing with flat blocks of colour is a wonderful way to learn about both colour and composition.
I will be at my exhibition in the Festival as usual to talk about my work and influences and to explain it in more detail!
