Paintings of the human figure have always interested me. The nuance and subtlety of colour and form, the interplay of light and shade, and body language or expression can combine to draw the viewer in. 

Perhaps there is a narrative element or a curiosity about the subject. My paintings tend to feature a single model in space allowing focus to fall on the figure and to engage the viewer. Sometimes I will use a restricted palette, applying layers of glaze over an initial underpainting. At other times, I use a lighter and more extensive palette.
