GREAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR VOLUNTEERS AND TEMPORARY STAFF AT THIS YEAR'S PITTENWEEM ARTS FESTIVAL
As Scotland's longest-running and largest community-based visual arts festival, we are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as volunteers and temporary paid staff for this year's event.
These roles offer an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery of a highly regarded cultural festival while gaining hands-on experience in a supportive and collaborative environment.
You will be a part of a small, dedicated team where flexibility and a willingness to work together are essential. These positions are ideal for those looking to build skills in events management, arts administration, or customer service, and who are keen to be a part of something special.

OPEN VACANCIES
Festival Office Manager
Duration: 4 Weeks (Tuesday 15 July - Monday 11 August)
Rate of Pay: £14.50 per hour
Hours: Typically 40 hours per week including some weekends
Daily Schedule: 09:45 - 17:15 (includes a paid break)
You will be responsible for managing all aspects of the festival box office, ensuring efficient operations throughout the event. Your role will include handling reception duties, coordinating volunteer rotas for gallery sitters and brochure sellers, processing both cash and electronic payments, and facilitating brochure sales. You'll provide a service for artists, festival visitors, and local residents while providing essential support to the infrastructure team. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work autonomously, and a strong commitment to contributing to the festival's success. This short-term role presents an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in event management within a vibrant arts environment.
Festival Office Assistant
Duration: 4 Weeks (Tuesday 15 July - Monday 11 August)
Rate of Pay: £12.50 per hour
Hours: Typically 40 hours per week including some weekends
Daily Schedule: 09:45 - 17:15 (includes a paid break)
In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of the festival office by managing reception duties, handling cash, and electronic payments, and processing brochure sales. You'll provide essential support to the artists, visitors and local residents while assisting the infrastructure team as needed. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for this position, which offers an excellent short-term opportunity to develop hands-on experience in event operations within a dynamic arts environment.
Gallery Sitter
Duration: 8 Days (Friday 1 August to Saturday 9 August)
Rate of Pay: £12.50 per hour
Hours: Typically 40 hours per week including some weekends
Daily Schedule: 09:45 - 17:15 (includes a paid break)
As a Gallery Sitter, you’ll be the welcoming face of our artist exhibitions, ensuring visitors enjoy a memorable experience. Your role includes opening and closing the venue, answering questions about the artwork, processing sales of pieces and merchandise, and keeping the exhibition space presentable. We’re looking for friendly, reliable individuals with excellent communication and time-keeping skills who can represent the festival professionally while providing outstanding visitor care.

Infrastructure Stewards
Duration: 11 Days (Thursday 31 July - Monday 11 August TBC)
Rate of Pay: £12.50 per hour
Hours: Up to 40 hours per week including weekend working
Daily Schedule: 09:45 - 17:15 ( 7+ hours per day as part of a rota, includes a paid break)
You will work as part of a team to handle the physical setup and operation of festival venues, including preparing and dismantling exhibits, as well as assembling and managing the car parking and traffic control systems. This role involves physical tasks such as heavy lifting and requires you to be on your feet for extended periods. A full driving license is desirable but not essential. This is a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the festival’s success while working in a dynamic team environment.

Volunteering for Events
This year’s festival includes a number of exciting events to suit all ages. We’re looking for friendly, enthusiastic volunteers to assist with running events, welcoming visitors, and supporting a dynamic line-up of live music, workshops, talks, and family activities. Gain experience, meet inspiring artists, and help create an unforgettable festival experience. Please note, that volunteer roles are unpaid.
The events schedule runs from 2nd – 9th August. If you are available for 8 hours or 8 days (or any anything in-between) and would like to volunteer, we’d love to hear from you.
