NOREEN HOOLAGHAN

I mainly work with acrylics, although I’m equally happy working with pastels and pencil. I started in portraiture, with family and friends being the subject of many of my earlier pieces, although I now accept commissions.

I love colour, and capturing snapshots of life. My work captures scenes from all over the world, from the familiar streets of Glasgow, to cities in Europe and locations as far as New York City. My choice of studies lends itself to quite an eclectic collection of work, although I hope the style remains recognisable throughout.

I strive to exhibit as much realism in my work as possible, through my love of detail and the use of colour. I attended The Glasgow School of Art, after being accepted onto a part time course whilst still attending senior school. However, my working life has seen me spend over 30 years in our family’s automotive business.

Since selling the business in 2020, I am now free to pursue my passion for art, and I hope that others will enjoy what I produce.
