ALISON PRICE

My drawings and paintings begin with being in the landscape. Initially I work quickly on location, responding to sights and sounds around me then prompted by sketches and found objects I develop pieces in my studio.

Using mark-making to filter the essence of a place into my work and to communicate the feelings and atmosphere that I experienced.

I hope that my work connects with the viewer by reminding them of a sense of place and a familiar feeling rather than an exact reproduction of a view.

DOG FRIENDLY | VENUE 26 | 10:00 - 17:00

'Winter swims'. An icy and still February morning at Clunie Loch, remembering the blissful but painful cold water on my skin.

'Swash'. capturing the perpetual motion of waves crashing against rocks and returning to sea along the Angus Coast.

'It does nothing but be itself'. The mesmerising layers of seawater swirling are enticing and terrifying in equal measure. Layers of acrylic ink hold them still in this painting.
