ANNE BARCLAY

My work is a direct response to the atmosphere of a place. I work intuitively, choosing to represent the colour and impression rather than an absolute image. I work primarily in oils, enjoying the fluidity of the medium which allows me to work into the paint and create the transient nature of my subject.

As I live by the sea it was inevitable that I would be drawn to this subject as the main source of my paintings. The East Neuk of Fife and the West Highlands and Islands of Scotland provide stunning inspiration for my works. I have taken part in the Arts Festival for more than 20 years, exhibiting at my studio which is situated at Ovenstone -  a beautiful rural location just outside Pittenweem.

I exhibit regularly in various galleries and my work is in private collections throughout the world
