I am a Glasgow based jewellery designer and maker and work mainly in silver but also include accents of coloured metals ranging from anodised aluminium to oxidised blue titanium in my jewellery.
I am drawn to specific techniques such as hammered texturing and riveting, and stars feature heavily in my work. I also incorporate typewriter style stamped lettering into my mixed metal pieces. The wording can be lines from my poetry, short phrases in French or simply words which resonate with the piece I’m making at the time.
My recent work has found inspiration from the changing coastline, weather and harbours of the East Neuk of Fife. I would describe my jewellery as tiny pieces of wearable art which often have an emotionally touching narrative. I am deeply interested in exploring the fragility of the human condition and our continuing physical and emotional battle against - but also at points, our celebration of - nature and the elements.
I believe that the act of creating has the ability to give great meaning to our lives and feel that jewellery making has been a special form of therapy for me.
